Nerang Residential Service Trenching

Project Scope
Stormwater and electrical trenching across a 600m² lot. Tight access through 900mm side gate.
The Challenge
DBYD identified an existing telecoms line crossing the trench path. Stormwater needed to fall correctly to the street kerb. Electrical trench had to clear the existing meter location.
How We Approached It
- 1DBYD plans reviewed and existing services confirmed by hand-pothole
- 21.7T excavator through 900mm side gate over protection mats
- 3Stormwater trench cut to 600mm depth at engineer's fall (1:100)
- 4Electrical trench cut to 600mm with sand bedding and warning tape
- 5Pipes laid by plumber/electrician same day, inspected before backfill
- 6Trench backfilled and compacted, surface restored
Equipment Used
- 1.7T mini excavator
- Hand tools for pothole work
- Plate compactor
Outcome
All services laid same day, site backfilled and clean before evening.
Key Takeaways
- Hand-potholing existing services before trenching saved a costly strike
- Tight access trenching is bread-and-butter on Gold Coast residential
- Coordinating with the licensed trades same-day kept the build moving
