Earthmoving Gold Coast — fixed-price earthworks from an owner-operator

Sollid Solutions is an owner-operated earthmoving company based on the Gold Coast. We handle residential and small-civil earthmoving — site cuts, land clearing, driveway prep, retaining excavation, drainage and tipper hire — across Ormeau, the M1 corridor, the hinterland and out to Brisbane. One direct line to John, no call centres, fixed prices and a clean handover every time.

  • Free on-site earthmoving quote — fixed price, no surprises
  • 1.7T to 5T tracked machines plus tipper carting in-house
  • Owner-operated since day one — you deal directly with John
  • 100+ earthmoving jobs completed across the Gold Coast

What our Gold Coast earthmoving covers

We're a true earthmoving outfit, not just an excavation hire. That means we plan, dig, cart, level and hand the site back ready for the next trade — concreter, builder, landscaper or pool builder.

  • Residential earthmoving and earthworks — site cuts, levelling, fill
  • House and shed pad preparation, including sloping blocks
  • Land clearing, tree-stump removal and acreage earthworks
  • Driveway excavation, base prep and gravel delivery
  • Drainage, trenching and services excavation
  • Tipper wet hire and bulk material delivery (road base, gravel, soil)

How a Gold Coast earthmoving job runs, start to finish

Every earthmoving job we take on follows the same clear sequence, whether it's a small residential clean-up or a full house-and-shed pad on acreage. Because you deal with John directly from the first phone call to the final photo handover, nothing gets lost between a salesperson and a subcontractor — the person who quotes your job is the person on the machine.

  1. Free on-site visit. We walk the block with you, check access, levels and likely rock, and talk through exactly what you want to achieve.
  2. Fixed written quote. You get an itemised price — machine time, carting, fill and any rock — not a vague number over the phone.
  3. Set-out and strip. We mark the levels and building footprint, then strip the topsoil and set it aside if it's being reused.
  4. Cut and cart. We cut the block to design level and cart the spoil away in our own tipper as we go.
  5. Fill, level and compact. Where the design calls for fill, we bring it in, place it in layers and compact each one so the pad is stable.
  6. Trim and clean handover. A final hand-trim to spec, a tidy site, and a photo set so you can sign off even if you're not there.

For a plain-English walk-through of one of these jobs from day one, read our marking-out-a-dream-home case study — it follows a real Gold Coast block from set-out through to finished pads.

What earthmoving costs on the Gold Coast — and what moves the price

There's no honest one-size price for earthmoving, because two blocks that look identical from the street can cost very different amounts to move. As a rough guide, small residential jobs (a site clean, driveway prep or a small cut) usually land between $1,500 and $4,500, while house pads, larger cuts and driveways run from $4,500 to $15,000 or more. The only way to know your number is a site visit — but these are the things that move it:

  • Volume of material — how many cubic metres have to be cut, carted or brought in.
  • Slope — a steep block takes longer to cut safely and often needs retaining, which changes the earthworks.
  • Rock — hinterland blocks can hide sandstone or basalt that needs a rock breaker, which we price as a clear, separate line.
  • Access — a tight side gate means a smaller machine and more passes, which adds time.
  • Spoil versus fill — carting spoil away costs money, and so does importing and compacting clean fill.
  • Cartage distance — how far the nearest licensed tip or fill source is from your site.
Fixed price, not a moving target

After a free site visit you get a written, itemised quote. We factor likely rock and cartage in up front, so the price you sign is the price you pay — barring a genuine change of scope you ask for.

Sloping blocks, rock and fill — the Gold Coast realities

The Gold Coast hinterland is beautiful to build on and hard to dig. Blocks around Tallai, Mudgeeraba, Bonogin and Currumbin Valley regularly hide rock a few hundred millimetres down, and hitting it changes the machine, the time and the price. We'd rather warn you about it at the quote than surprise you with it at the invoice — our guide on rock breaking versus straight excavation explains when a breaker actually earns its keep.

Fill is the other half of the equation. Cutting a block down leaves you with spoil to remove; building a pad up means bringing clean fill in, placing it in layers and compacting each one so it doesn't settle later. Getting the volume right matters, because over-ordering wastes money and under-ordering stalls the job — our guide on how much fill you need shows how we work it out.

Finally, a lot of sloping-block cuts leave a batter that needs holding back. Whether that means a retaining wall depends on the height and the soil — we cover the decision in do I need retaining walls after a site cut so you can budget for it before the excavator arrives.

Why owner-operated earthmoving works out better

Bigger earthmoving companies run a sales team, a scheduler and a rotating cast of operators. That's fine for a highway job — but on a residential block it means the person quoting has never seen your site and the operator has never spoken to you. We do it the other way around.

  • One point of contact — John quotes it, digs it and hands it over.
  • No layered margins — you're not paying for a head office, a sales commission and a subcontractor on top of the machine.
  • In-house tipper carting — we move our own spoil and fill, so you're not waiting on a truck company or chasing a separate invoice.
  • Accountability — the person responsible for the finish is the person on the controls, every job.

How to get your block ready before we arrive

A little prep on your side keeps the job quick and the quote accurate. None of it is essential — we'll work around whatever we find — but the smoother the access, the less machine time you pay for.

  • Measure your narrowest access point (usually the side gate) and let us know — it decides which machine we bring.
  • Clear cars, bins, trailers and loose items from the work area and the path in.
  • Point out where underground services (power, water, gas, comms) run if you know — we also arrange locates before we dig.
  • Decide where spoil can be staged and where a truck can pull up, even if it's out on the street.
  • Flag anything precious near the work — established plants, irrigation, a septic field — so we can protect it.

Earthmoving Gold Coast — common questions

What does earthmoving on the Gold Coast cost?+

Small residential earthmoving jobs (site clean, driveway prep, small cuts) usually run $1,500–$4,500. House pads, larger cuts and driveways run $4,500–$15,000+ depending on volume, slope and rock. We give you a fixed written quote after a free on-site visit — no phone-quote estimates.

What's the difference between earthmoving and excavation?+

Excavation is the digging itself. Earthmoving is the whole package — clearing, cutting, levelling, trenching, hauling spoil away and bringing in fill or gravel. We do both, but most Gold Coast jobs we're booked for are full earthmoving where the site needs to be left ready for the next trade.

Which Gold Coast suburbs do you cover?+

We cover the full Gold Coast — from Ormeau, Pimpama and Coomera in the north, through Helensvale, Nerang and Robina, out to Mudgeeraba, Tallai and the hinterland. We also work Brisbane south and Logan regularly.

Are you insured for residential earthmoving?+

Yes — full public liability and equipment insurance. We're happy to send a Certificate of Currency before we start on your site.

Can you organise the tipper and the spoil disposal?+

Yes. We run our own tipper, so spoil cartage to a licensed recycling depot is included in the quote — you don't need to organise a separate truck or worry about disposal fees.

How quickly can you start earthmoving work?+

Small jobs we can often slot in within a week. Larger earthmoving (house pads, acreage cuts) typically 2–4 weeks from quote acceptance, depending on the schedule and weather.
