ACREAGE EARTHWORKS — GOLD COAST HINTERLAND & SCENIC RIM

Acreage work is what we do best. Most weeks we're somewhere up the hinterland — Tallai, Mudgeeraba, Bonogin, Tamborine, Canungra, Beechmont, Currumbin Valley, Tallebudgera Valley — cutting house pads, sculpting driveways, cleaning out dams, levelling paddocks, prepping arenas, and clearing acreage for builds. Acreage is its own world: bigger volumes, longer driveways, rock, slope, and the kind of weather that turns a clay block into a skating rink.

Common acreage jobs we run: house pad cuts on sloping blocks (often 800–2,500m³ of cut), long driveway cuts and gravel laying (50–500m runs), dam excavation and dam clean-outs (silt removal, raising banks, spillway repair), paddock and arena levelling, land clearing of regrowth and lantana, retaining wall benching, ring drains and stormwater swales, and full site preparation for new homes, sheds and outbuildings.

We bring the right gear for acreage work: 5T excavators with GPS for accurate cuts, hydraulic breakers for the basalt and shale that runs through the hinterland, Positracks for fine grading and bulk push, and tipper trucks for spoil cart-away or material import. For really big cuts or long drives we'll bring in additional machines by arrangement. GPS grade control on the larger cuts saves days of pegging and stake-shifting.

Rock is a hinterland reality. Tamborine, Canungra, Tallai, Bonogin and Beechmont sit on basalt; sandstone runs through Mudgeeraba and Currumbin Valley. We always quote rock as a separate line so you can see what's standard excavation and what's breaker hours. On bigger acreage cuts we often crush the broken rock onsite and reuse it as driveway base or pad fill — saves a fortune on imported material and trucking.

Drainage matters even more on acreage. A poorly drained driveway becomes a creek; a poorly graded house pad sits in a puddle every storm. We design fall into every cut, install ring drains around pads, ag-line under driveways where needed, and connect stormwater to soak pits, swales or registered watercourses. Dam clean-outs and spillway repairs are regular work — most rural dams need silt removal every 10–20 years to maintain capacity.

Access and logistics are always part of the acreage quote. Long shared driveways, gates, livestock, neighbouring blocks, weight limits on bridges, school bus times — we plan around all of it. Most acreage jobs we mobilise gear in once and stay 3–10 days, getting multiple work items knocked over in one mobilisation rather than coming back three times. That's how we keep acreage pricing competitive.

Coordination with builders, engineers, certifiers and arborists is normal acreage work. New rural builds on acreage almost always involve a building certifier, structural engineer and sometimes an arborist for protected vegetation. We work to the engineer's drawings, schedule around builder's program, and keep the site to certifier inspection standards. If you want a single trade to handle the whole earthworks scope on your acreage build, that's exactly what we do.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

  • Site visit, level survey and earthworks quote
  • GPS set-out and grade control on larger cuts
  • Topsoil strip and stockpile for re-use
  • House pad, driveway, dam or paddock excavation
  • Rock breaking with hydraulic breaker as required
  • Onsite crushing/re-use of broken rock where viable
  • Drainage: ring drains, ag-line, swales, soak pits
  • Tipper haulage of spoil or import of fill/road base
  • Final grade, compaction and tidy handover

HOW THE JOB RUNS

  1. 1

    Site walk & scope

We walk the block with you, look at the engineer's drawings if there are any, agree the work items, and quote a clear fixed price or rate range.

  2. 2

    Mobilise to site

Excavator, Positrack, breaker and tipper arrive together. Gear stays on site to knock over the full scope in one mobilisation.

  3. 3

    Strip & stockpile

Topsoil stripped and stockpiled for paddock or garden re-use. Vegetation cleared if part of scope.

  4. 4

    Cut, fill, shape

House pad, driveway, dam, arena or paddock cut to engineer's spec or agreed level. Rock broken and reused where possible.

  5. 5

    Drainage install

Ring drains, ag-line, swales and stormwater connections installed as part of the earthworks scope.

  6. 6

    Final grade & handover

Smooth final grade, compaction-tested where required, and tidy demob. Site ready for builder, fencer or trade.

Pricing Guide

House pad on flat acreage $4,500–$9,500. Sloping acreage pad with cut/fill and retaining $9,500–$25,000+. Acreage driveway cut and gravel (per 100m): $3,500–$8,500. Dam clean-out: $4,500–$18,000+ depending on silt volume and access. Paddock levelling: $2,500–$12,000. Always priced after a free site visit. Rock breaking quoted as a separate hourly line.

Indicative only. Every job is quoted on its own merits — no surprises.
