A Sloping Backyard Turned Family Hangout — Cut & Fill at Ormeau Hills — Sollid Solutions Gold Coast

This one's a great example of how much difference a bit of earthmoving can make to a backyard.

The block brought down to a flat, even level — ready for turf.

The backyard at this Ormeau Hills place fell away across the block, so there wasn't really a flat, usable area for the family to enjoy. The job was simple enough on paper: cut the high side down, build the low side up, and finish with one level pad ready for turf.

Fill from right next door

The neat part was where the fill came from. Rather than paying to cart fill in from a quarry, there was suitable fill available on the block next door — so we moved it across, spread it and trimmed it to level. That kept the job quick and kept the cost down for the customer.

Getting the level and the trim right is what makes a job like this ready for turf. Once it's even and firm, the customer can lay turf straight over the top with no fuss.

The result

The whole job took about half a day. The customer has since laid turf over the new level area — and it's become the family's new favourite place to hang out. That's exactly the kind of result we love to hear about.
