ACREAGE EARTHWORKS — GOLD COAST HINTERLAND & SEQ

Acreage earthworks is a different game from suburban work. The blocks are bigger (1–10+ acres typical on the Gold Coast hinterland), the cuts are deeper, the drainage is more critical, and the access is sometimes a kilometre of rural driveway away from the nearest sealed road. We've done acreage earthworks across Tallai, Mudgeeraba, Bonogin, Currumbin Valley, Mount Nathan, Maudsland, Ormeau Hills and Beechmont, and we know what acreage owners need.

Typical acreage projects we do: house pad bench cut on a sloping block (often 80–250m³ of cut), rural driveway construction or upgrade (200–800m of driveway, often with culverts and drainage), dam excavation (1–5 megalitre farm dams), shed and stable pads, equestrian arena construction, fence line clearing, paddock drainage, and full-property regrading.

House pads on acreage are bigger and more involved than suburban house pads. A standard acreage home is often 200–400m² of slab footprint plus garage and outdoor living, on a sloping block, often with a basement or undercroft garage. We bench to engineer's drawings, dig retaining trenches, route drainage, and prep slab base — same job as a suburban pad but at 2–4× the volume.

Rural driveway construction is its own specialty. A standard 300m rural driveway needs cut and fill to run grade, culverts where it crosses watercourses, drainage on the high side, road base in 100mm lifts compacted, and a final seal of crusher dust or two-coat bitumen. Done right it lasts 20+ years. Done wrong it washes out the first wet season.

Farm dams are mostly an old-world skill — get the embankment width wrong and the dam leaks; get the spillway wrong and the dam fails in a heavy storm. We build to engineer's drawings for any dam over 0.25 megalitre (which is most of them) and we work with hydraulic engineers we trust regularly. Typical hobby-farm dam: $25,000–$80,000 depending on size and ground conditions.

Subdivision earthworks for small developers is work we're set up for too. 2–10 lot residential subdivisions, internal road construction, kerb and channel prep, lot pad cuts, drainage networks, and bulk earthworks per the engineered plans. We sub-hire bigger machines (13T, 20T excavators, water cart, roller) on demand for these projects.

Most acreage jobs combine several pieces of work into one mobilisation — clear the block, cut the house pad, dig the driveway, build the dam, prep the shed pad — all in one continuous program. That's where the savings are: one mobilisation, one tipper schedule, one set of insurance certificates, one project manager (us) coordinating the lot.
