Witheren Tank Pad & Shed Pad — Site Cuts Witheren Gold Coast

Project Scope

Cut a level tank pad into a hinterland bank below a tiny home, based and compacted ready for the tank — with a shed pad levelled on the return visit.

The Challenge

Tank pads have to sit dead level — even a small slope puts pressure on the base of a poly or steel tank and shortens its life. The pad had to be cut into a natural bank below a tiny home in the hinterland, set out to size and based ready for delivery.

How We Approached It

  1. 1
Set up and cut into the natural bank below the tiny home
  2. 2
Set the pad out to size and trimmed it dead level
  3. 3
Laid and compacted road base over the pad
  4. 4
Returned the next day to level out the shed pad on the same property
Equipment Used
  • Kobelco excavator
  • Plate compactor
  • Hand tools for final trim
Materials Handled

Cut material taken out of the bank and shaped on site; road base brought in and compacted for the pad.

Outcome

A dead-level, based tank pad ready for the tank delivery, with the shed pad knocked over the next day — two jobs in two visits.

Key Takeaways

  • Tank pads need to be dead level — a small slope shortens the life of a poly or steel tank
  • Cutting into the natural bank and basing it properly gives the tank a stable footing
  • Doing the tank pad and shed pad in two visits saved the owners a second mobilisation fee
