Currumbin Valley Steep Block Retaining Cut — Site Cuts Currumbin Valley Gold Coast

Project Scope

Steep hinterland block — 1.8m cut with retaining wall bench prep. Boulder breaking required for the lower bench.

The Challenge

1.8m cut into a steep slope required engineer-designed batter and retaining wall combination. Lower bench area had buried boulders — couldn't be quoted from the street.

How We Approached It

  1. 1
Site visit with the engineer to walk the design
  2. 2
Topsoil stripped and stockpiled for the terrace gardens
  3. 3
Bulk cut in three benches following the engineer's design
  4. 4
Boulder pocket hit on lower bench — hydraulic breaker fitted to handle
  5. 5
Bench leveled and trimmed to retaining wall trade's requirement
  6. 6
Cut spoil pushed and shaped into the lower terrace
Equipment Used
  • 5T excavator with rock breaker
  • 3T excavator for bench trim
  • Plate compactor
Materials Handled

Zero cart-away — all spoil reused on lower terrace and garden shaping

Outcome

Bench delivered ready for retaining wall trade. Spoil reused on the lower garden terrace.
